Marnane hoping for Classic success at Gowran David Marnane has his team in good form at present and reports Manton Bay on target for the €200,000 Irish Stallion Farms EBF Gowran Classic at Gowran Park next Monday. The Ulysses colt won a Dundalk maiden last November and has gone close on both starts this year in valuable handicaps including over 1m2f at Navan earlier this month. “He will go for the Gowran Classic; 200,000 reasons to go! “The ground should be a wee bit better and should suit him better than Navan,” said Marnane after saddling his fourth winner in the space of a week at Dundalk yesterday. The Bansha trainer added, “It was a good run in Navan but, I think just the ground, and he got a bit lonely in front. He's only had four runs in his life. “The Gowran race was always the race we were hoping to be at, so he's there and he learned a bit from Navan. We'll see how he goes.” Additional reporting by Michael Graham
