Martin has high hopes of Aintree double Tony Martin and Paul Carberry will have high hopes for a double this evening at Aintree with Askmeroe and Meadows Thyne making the journey across to the Merseyside venue. Askmeroe is first up and he runs in the 6:35, two mile novice chase. This fellow made the breakthrough over fences on the fourth time of asking at Fairyhouse last month, making all to win what was a modest contest, by twenty one lengths. The trip was a furlong extra that day and was run on heavy ground. He is unproven on the likely good ground at Aintree but should still go close in what looks an average race. Meadows Thyne runs half an hour later in the three mile handicap hurdle carrying just ten stone nine. He won his last start over the same trip on good ground at Gowran and afterwards Martin reported "He has been plagued with injuries all his life" and "touch wood with can have a bit of fun with him now." Paddy Powers have installed Meadows Thyne as the 5/1 morning favourite while Askmeroe has been niggled at going from his opening price of 3/1 into 11/4 third favourite.
