Masar among 10 for the Coral-Eclipse Investec Derby hero Masar will face a maximum of nine rivals in the Coral-Eclipse at Sandown on Saturday. After finishing third behind Saxon Warrior over a mile in the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket, Charlie Appleby's colt emphatically reversed the form when stepped up to a mile and a half in the premier Classic at Epsom. The son of New Approach is set to run over the intermediate distance of a mile and a quarter this weekend after being supplemented for the Group One contest at a cost of 50,000 pounds. Masar is set to cross swords again with the John Gosden-trained Roaring Lion, who was beaten two lengths in third at Epsom. Appleby also looks set to saddle 2016 Eclipse hero Hawkbill, who was last seen finishing third in the Prince of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot. Aidan O’Brien has five possible runners, with Rostropovich and Saxon Warrior surprisingly still in the mix after finishing second and third respectively in Saturday’s Irish Derby. Sunday’s International Stakes winner Yucatan, Cliffs Of Moher and the only filly in the field, Happily, complete the Ballydoyle quintet. The Richard Fahey-trained Forest Ranger and Raymond Tusk from Richard Hannon’s yard are the other confirmations.
