John McConnell is hoping for a productive day on and off the racecourse as he sends four horses across the Irish Sea to Ayr today.

There has been some overnight support for Lexington Dash in the Weddings At Western House Hotel Handicap and for Pinball Wizard in the Book Christmas Day At Western House Handicap. Galician Girl and Waystar are also on the boat for the Co Meath-based trainer.

McConnell said: "They all have squeaks and it is low-grade fare. The horses are in two six-runner fields, an eight and a nine - you just wouldn't get that in Ireland.

"It's handy enough for us to go to Ayr and we said we'd send four over and see. They should all be competitive and hopefully we'll have a winner. It just makes sense to go.

"I might go over. It's an evening meeting, so I could fly at lunchtime and get a bit of work done in the morning."
