A regular participant at Cheltenham, Moon D'orange is set for another visit to the Cotswolds next month after a fine effort at the festival on his last start.

The eight-year-old chaser was backed at big prices before staying on into third behind Madara in the Sun Racing Plate over two and a half miles.

That was the eleventh run at the track for the chestnut gelding whose last win came in a £100k handicap there in January 2025.

"The headgear (visor) did the trick, I think," said trainer John McConnell with regard to that latest effort.

"It was great because the season hadn't gone great for him, and he was unlucky not to be second. A great run."

"He'll go back there in April for a chase he was fourth in last year - a good, valuable chase."
