McCoy and Pipe have Dream start

Champion trainer Martin Pipe started the day as he meant to go on as Live The Dream landed the opener at Ascot this afternoon.

The 11-2 chance was given a brilliant ride by Pipe`s stable jockey Tony McCoy to take the John Doyle Aurelius Juvenile Novices` Hurdle.

Abbot was a warm favourite to supplement a recent Newbury success but McCoy stalked the market leader throughout, and sent his mount up the inside to challenge coming out of the back straight.

As Abbot`s stride began to shorten, Live The Dream was kicked clear to score by 13 lengths from Bula Rose.

'I bought this filly from the second-best trainer in Britain, James Hetherton,' smiled Pipe. 'He told me to say that!

'I knew we had the favourite to worry about but that was the plan, to go out and see if there were any chinks in his armour.

'She is a brave little filly and she will win more races, I hope.'
