McCreery and Lee follow up with Miss Romagna at Roscommon Miss Romagna gave both Willie McCreery and Billy Lee a second success on the card when winning the Racing Here Again On September 28 Maiden at Roscommon this evening. Always up with the pace, the 7/1 chance led well before halfway and kicked a few lengths clear passing the two-furlong pole to beat the running-on Purple Bandit by all of five and a half lengths. Almazann, the 4/6 favourite, could only manage fourth place from his unfavourable wide draw. McCreery and Lee were earlier on the mark with another 7/1 shot, Phoenix Pairc, and the trainer said, “That was lovely. She’s my first runner for Giampiero Vellucci so I’m delighted. “He was just on there and he’s absolutely thrilled. He’s a solicitor in Italy. “She’s a big weak filly and the more time we gave her the more she has strengthened up. She has always shown ability. “I was a bit worried that the track here might be a bit tight for her. She was on the front end and Billy dictated. I thought he got it spot on. “She met a bit of trouble the last day but I think she was a bit weak and was wandering. “Today she had her ears pricked everywhere and was enjoying it. “She’s not really a handicap type filly. We’ll try and snatch a bit of black-type with her. “She’s a big filly and I don’t think she’ll suit handicaps, she’s not mentally there yet. Smaller fields will suit her.” Additional reporting by Gary Carson
