McGettigan completes Down double Apprentice jockey Patrick McGettigan registered a Down Royal double today, completing the feat in the concluding Molson Coors Beverage Handicap on the Paul Sweeney-trained Pillar Of Hope (22/1). Previously successful at Leopardstown last October, eight-year-old Pillar Of Hope today notched a seventh career success, when scoring by 4.5 lengths from Sea Eagle . Sweeney, from Donegal, stated "he had a nice run in Galway, but we thought he was a wee bit ‘short’ after it. He ran then in Punchestown and the trip was a wee bit short for him, but ran a nice race. "The ground suited and he does all his work at the back-end of the year; everything worked out alright. He will probably go for the November Handicap (Naas) now if he can sneak in at the bottom of the weights. "Patrick lives beside me and was down on Saturday morning riding out for us.
