Corey McGivern rode his winner in Ireland on Hurricane Georgie in the mares' handicap hurdle at Downpatrick and gave Gordon Elliott a double.

Hurricane Georgie (6/4 favourite) looked beaten in fourth after the last but surged home up the hill to lead close home.

He took the honours by three parts of a length from Red Ball Of Fire (6/1). Frazel Express was a short head away in third at 11/2.

McGivern said: "I'm from Meath. That's my first winner in Ireland and fifth winner now (in total, four in Britain).

"I'm back for the summer and Gordon has been very good to me. I really enjoyed my time there (in Britain) - Lucy (Wadham) has been very good to me.

"I hope Gordon keeps putting me up, I'm very grateful for the opportunity. I'm based with him.

"She's very tough and her jumping keeps her in it. She picked up really well."

Elliott also won the opener with Roaring Potter
