Ado McGuinness is expecting a big run from Go Athletico in the DNG Handicap at the Curragh on Thursday afternoon.

Having won the Scurry Handicap at the track in July, the gelding subsequently finished mid division at Galway, before disappointing in the Ayr Gold Cup last time.

McGuinness said: "I think the ground will suit him.

"He should have run Champions Weekend and we were very disappointed we didn't get to run that day, we were taken out of the race by order of the stewards.

"We went to Ayr, it was an afterthought. We got drawn on the wrong side that day and the race was gone after a furlong and a-half. Once you're on the wrong side over there, you're beaten.

"It is a nice pot of money there (in Curragh) on Thursday and we are expecting a big run.

"He's in good order and I know he is top-weight, but he is top-weight for a reason. Going down through the card, you would say he has to have a very good chance.

"Course and distance winner, and he is a Group winner there, and a handicap winner there."
