Ado McGuinness has a couple of big targets in mind this year for his useful stayer Tribal Star, and both are across the water on the all-weather at Newcastle.

The five-year-old son of Sea The Stars has won twice at Dundalk including the valuable Irish Stallion Farms EBF Red God Handicap last summer and has been placed on both starts over two miles since returning this year.

McGuinness reflected on his latest third behind Tatateo last Friday saying, “I was happy enough. He just got done for second, he stayed at it well.

“They didn't go mad quick and he likes a good, fast pace. We haven't got him 100 per cent wound up.”

The Lusk trainer confirmed that the gelding will not make a quick reappearance at Dundalk this week adding, “No, he won't come here on Wednesday. We made that entry with weather and everything else, just in case something happened.

“He will go back to Newcastle for All-Weather Finals Day and then he will go for the Northumberland Plate. Then, after that, we will see what happens.”

The All-Weather Championships Finals Day takes place on Good Friday April 3, while the Northumberland Plate is also at Newcastle on Saturday June 27.
