McGuinness hoping for English Cambridgeshire run with Pierre Royal Derby Weekend-winner Pierre Royal is a possibility for the English Cambridgeshire later this month, with trainer Ado McGuinness also keen to step the gelding up in distance. Moyglare Stud Farm-bred, four-year-old Pierre Royal landed the €100,000 Dubai Duty Derby Festival Handicap at the Curragh in June before finishing runner-up in the €120,000 Colm Quinn BMW Galway Mile in July. A recent third-place finisher in the Irish Cambridgeshire, McGuinness now has plans to travel to Newmarket later this month for the English edition, although concedes the 93-rated gelding may not be rated highly enough. McGuinness reported "Ground probably halted him a wee bit in the Cambridgeshire, but we have had a great season with him, so I can't complain. "We are looking at maybe stepping him up in trip. We might step him up, or we have him entered in England in the Cambridgeshire as well. I don't know whether he will get into that, though. "He has collected a cheque every time we have run him, we haven't over-raced him and there's a possibility he could travel.” Quotes from Michael Graham
