McLernon out with broken vertebrae Richie McLernon is facing a spell on the sidelines after breaking two vertebrae in a fall at Ludlow on Thursday. The jockey was taken to hospital for further examination after he parted company from Great Value at the third fence of a two-and-a-half-mile handicap chase. He was later confirmed to have damaged his back. McLernon tweeted: "Thank you everybody for messages of concern. I've broken my T11 and T12 vertebrae - touch wood for a speedy recovery."
