The Noel Meade-trained Instan proved to be a smooth winner of the opening Mitsubishi McCarthy T.V. & Electrical Maiden Hurdle at Cork last evening. The Paul Carberry-ridden winner beat Lord Rozz by four lengths and he will contrinue to be campaigned on fast ground.

Carberry and Meade were back in the winners enclosure following the Mitsubishi McCarthy T.V. & Electrical Novice Chase as Fable effortlessly dispensed with Tuba by four lengths.

Eoin Griffin saddled his eighth winner of the season when Golden Beacon led from the final fence to beat Just For Fun in the Sand & Gravel Products Beginners Chase. Golden Beacon was ridden by John Cullen and another novice chase will now feature on his agenda.

Derek O'Connor forfeited his seven lb claiming allowance by guiding Pat Hughes' top-weight Thesus to victory in the Shreelawn Oil (QR) Handicap Chase whilst Robert Power returned to the coveted number one spot aboard

Yer Father's Yacht, owned by Rolling Stone Ron Wood, in the Mallow 3-Y-O Maiden Hurdle.

Portant Fella recorded his fifth career success by leading from the final flight to beat Liscahill Hill by two lengths with Ruby Walsh in the Walsh Engineering Handicap Hurdle. Portant Fella will now run at Tramore this Sunday (August 17th).

Meanwhile, Louisa Williams recorded her sixth career success by landing the closing Conna (Pro-Am) Flat Race on Charlie Swan's Innisfree.
