Review CURRAGH 24th May

The Vodafone Derby could be the next stop for the brilliant Henrythenavigator following his breathtaking victory in the Boylesports Irish 2000 Guineas.

Following on from his Newmarket success, the 5/4 chance was travelling well within himself when the front-running favourite New Approach tried to kick three furlongs out.

Once again, last year's champion juvenile had no answer to the superior acceleration of his old adversary, and he was left trailing a length and three-quarters in his wake.

Winning trainer Aidan O'Brien said: "All the options are open, but most Kingmambo horses stay well and he is out of a Sadler's Wells mare. The Derby is very much in the picture."

Astronomer Royal (8-1) showed his appreciation for reverting to sprinting when leading home an O'Brien 1-2 in the Weatherbys Ireland Greenlands Stakes.

Last year's French 2000 Guineas hero failed to beat home a rival in the Lockinge at Newbury, but found this six-furlong trip right up his street.

Stablemate Abraham Lincoln looked to have matters sewn up when leading inside the final furlong, but Astronomer Royal was only just hitting top gear and swooped late to score by half a length. Myboycharlie disappointed when fading out of the placings.

O'Brien initiated a big-race treble when Heart Shaped shed her maiden tag in the TP Waters Chrysler Jeep EBF Marble Hill Stakes.

Johnny Murtagh produced the 5-2 co-favourite with her run when a split opened one and a half furlongs from the finish in the Listed heat, but she had to pull out all the stops to pass leader Silver Shoon, eventually scoring by a head.

Grecian Dancer (14-1) overturned more illustrious rivals when storming to victory in the Ridgewood Pearl Stakes.

Sweeping down the outside, Charles O'Brien's mare beat Mooretown Lady by five lengths, while Last year's winner Cheyenne Star pipped favourite Arch Swing for third.
