Review CURRAGH 26TH AUG

Richard Hannon captured the #200,000 Tattersalls Breeders Stakes for the fifth year in succession with the David Harrison-ridden Blue Goddess.

The Blues Traveller filly led soon after halfway, and kept on well to beat Sweet Dilemma by 2L with the Hannon-trained Miss Domuch just a neck back in third.

'She is only tiny, and does nothing at home but this has always been her target,' said Richard Hannon junior, who bought the filly for 15,000 guineas.

John Murtagh dominated the remainder of the card when partnering a 59/1 four-timer, highlighted by yet another Group race success aboard Lady Lahar.

The whole complexion of the race changed approaching the final furlong where the front-running Down To The Woods dropped away and Beckett led briefly.

Lady Lahar swept to the front in the final 100 yards to beat Bonnard by 1/2L, with Beckett just a shorthead further adrift in third.

John Oxx provided Murtagh with his other three winners, Burma Tiger, Katiykha and Ancelin.

Burma Tiger (2/1-6/4f) made a belated debut in the 5f maiden, and quickened clear from the furlong pole to beat Vasanta by 5L.

'He is bred to be speedy (by Indian Ridge out of Eva Luna), and will return here for a winners race on Leger day,' said Oxx.

Katiykha is likely to line-up in the Leger after comfortably holding on by 1/2L from Chimes At Midnight over the course and distance in the Listed Ballycullen Stakes.

'She seems best suited by a strongly run 12f but will probably take her chance in the Leger,' said Oxx.

Murtagh recorded his 51st winner of the campaign when Ancelin (1/3-8/15) readily landed the odds in the finale.

Apprentice sensation Tom Queally (15) recorded the 17th winner of his rookie season when Distinguished Cove cruised to the front over a furlong out to take the 10f handicap.

The 12/1 upset victory of On The Batter in the 7f handicap was good news for five lucky jackpot punters who each received a dividend of #1,500.
