Ger Lyons hopes Leandros can go on to better things after coming out on top
in the CRE Rental Property Management Race under the floodlights at Dundalk.
The Jim Bolger-trained Linsalata was sent off the 5-4 favourite but had to
no answer to the powerful run of the 7-4 winner and went down by two
lengths.
Apprentice Emmet McNamara was riding his first winner for Lyons, who
believes his charge is capable of making his mark in Listed company.
On a pretty miserable night weather-wise, Lyons and McNamara were denied a
fairytale double when the appropriately-named Chasing Clouds was
short-headed by the Chris Hayes-ridden Le Citadel (16-1) in the European
Mortgages Handicap.
The Paul Deegan-trained winner was breaking his maiden tag at the sixth time
of asking.
Hayes doubled up when steering Indiana Gal to a three-length call over the
easy-to-back Jalmira in the Anthony Duffy Construction Fillies Race.
Radiator Rooney was reported to have bled when beaten at Kempton but there
were no such problems this time as he finished strongly to take the S. Duffy
Plant Hire Ltd Handicap under Fran Berry.
The 4-1 favourite may have just one eye but that did not stop him getting
the better of Herotozero by a neck.
Tommy Stack's Cochlear (10-1) got a dream run up the far rail to defy top
weight in the Cumiskey Real Estate Handicap, foiling the well-backed 11-4
favourite Striking Force.
Green Tobasco's treble bid went astray as Balakan (9-2) fought back after
making the running to grab the CRE Property Management Handicap.
Rory Cleary was seen at his best on Michael Halford's seven-year-old, making
the running and seemingly saving a bit for his late rally to run out a ready
scorer in the end.
