Review GOWRAN PARK 19-FEB-2000

There was a large crowd at the sun-kissed midlands venue where local trainer Willie Mullins dominated proceedings with a 16 1/2 to 1 treble.

Balla Sola (3/1-5/2) ran freely under a restrained ride from Conor O'Dwyer in the Grade 3 Trial Hurdle but still had plenty in reserve to beat the front-running Theatreworld by 2 1/2L.

'He may go for the Champion and the County Hurdle at Cheltenham,' said Mullins.

Charlie Swan was pleased with Theatreworld, runner-up in the last three Champion Hurdle's, while Noel Meade indicated that Nomadic may go for the County Hurdle.

'He could also go to France later this year, and will go chasing next season,' said Noel Meade.

The Aintree Grand National is the target for Micko's Dream (5/4-6/4f), who made all to beat Bob Treacy by a comfortable 8L in the 3m mile Trial Chase.

Danoli, who jumped well apart from a mistake four out, stayed on gamely in third and Tom Foley will make plans for the popular gelding in the next few days.

General Cloney made an encouraging jumping debut when beating Ansar by 5L in the 4yo maiden hurdle.

'He will go for the Triumph Hurdle (20/1 with Cashmans). We decided to keep him for a spring campaign, with Fairyhouse and Punchestown also in mind,' said Mullins.

Paul Carberry notched up his 50th winner of the campaign when Aim High (4/5-1/2f) easily landed division 2 of the maiden hurdle.

Verrazano Bridge (Jason Titley) touched down in front after two out in the novice chase, and was pushed out to hold Vitus by 1 1/2L.

The in-form Arthur Moore stable was again on the mark as Mini Sensation (4/1-11/2) wore down Vanilla Man on the run-in to score by 1L in the handicap hurdle.
