Review NAAS 6TH JUN

Harry Rogers had a wonderful day at Naas as Moon Unit's Listed success proved the highlight in a treble for the Ardee trainer.

Mick Kinane produced Moon Unit with a perfectly timed run to land the spoils in the Naas Sprint Stakes. The daughter of Intikhab led inside the final furlong and stayed on strongly to beat English raider If Paradise by half a length.

Osterhase (4/5f) was a warm order and blazed the trail, as usual. But he could find no extra when tackled by Moon Unit and had to settle for third as Richard Hannon's If Paradise also came through.

'Mick was very good on her. It was a good performance and she'll get a break for a week or two now. We'll see where she goes after that. Ideally she needs a cut,' said Rogers.

Skerries benefited from a wonderful ride by Chris Hayes to land the opening Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Handicap.

The young apprentice had to sit tight after the saddle slipped leaving the stalls and his mount went straight into the lead. Hayes showed great balance to ride his mount out and secure a half-length victory over Fire Finch.

Number three, for Rogers, came when Take A Tangle landed the Event & Venue Hire At Naas Racecourse Handicap under a power-packed Kieren Fallon ride.

The gelding looked to be struggling from some way out but responded well for Fallon and stayed on strongly in the closing stages to get the better of Voodoo Bert by three parts of a length.

Fallon also recorded a treble as he had earlier landed two for his employers at Ballydoyle.

Rumplestiltskin looks a filly with a bright future and continued her education with a fine performance in the Listed Swordlestown Stud Sprint Stakes.

As on her debut the daughter of Danehill took a bit of time to get into her stride and was nudged along to lead inside the final furlong before securing a comfortable length-and-a-half victory over long-time leader Waterways.

'She's still very green and will improve a lot, particularly when she steps up in trip,' was Fallon's assessment.

Hippodrome provided another winner for in-form sire Montjeu when sticking to his guns well to repel Society Milliner by a neck in the Go Racing In Kildare Maiden.
