Review NAAS 7TH JUN

Damson looks to have a bright future after a dominant performance in the Listed Swordlestown Stud Sprint Stakes at Naas.

Jamie Spencer gave the filly a typically confident ride and arrived with plenty in hand to lead inside the two furlong marker before asking the 15/8 shot to stretch clear, beating Pictavia by a comfortable two lengths.

Trainer David Wachman was unsure about immediate targets for the Entrepreneur filly but Ascot is not on the agenda and he said he 'would give her a chance' rather than rushing her.

Osterhase and English raider Benbaun fought out a protracted duel in the Listed Naas Sprint Stakes with John Mulhern's gelding finding that little bit extra close home to win by the narrowest of margins.

Fran Berry broke smartly on the 3/1f but had to contend with Benbaun and Dean Corby from halfway and that pair held a slight advantage before Osterhase fought back to get up on the line.

'Sprinters have to jump and run and that is why the English sprinters are better than ours. We're always delighted to win any race but a listed race is great.' said Mulhern.

Silver Silence (9/1) won convincingly in the Ladies Fashion Competition Maiden despite running green throughout. Kevin Manning was at work on the colt from some way out but he found his stride late on to beat Floscula by two-and-a-half lengths.

Peter Casey's yard has been in form recently and he was on the mark with Blessyourpinksox in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Handicap.

Johnny Murtagh steered Erra Go On to success in the Event & Venue Hire at Naas Racecourse Handicap while Jamie Spencer recorded a double when Solskjaer took the concluding Bill Whitehead Memorial Race.
