Review SLIGO 8TH AUG

Galway hero Incline staged an impressive encore at Sligo on Wednesday night when running out an effortless winner.

Ray McGlinchey's charge, game winner of the Tote Mile at the festival last week, didn't have to come out of a canter to land the Foley's Bar & Off Licence Handicap.

Davy Moran sent his mount to the lead early in the straight and he was value for much more than his three-length margin over Zhukhov.

'I should be afraid of the handicapper after tonight!' joked McGlinchey afterwards.

'He'll have to go for a huge pot somewhere. He really needs a mile and I couldn't believe how easily he won.'

Tai Lass was another to follow up a success at Galway but she was made to work for her victory in the Martin Reilly BMW Dealer Handicap Hurdle.

Andrew Lynch sent the mare on after the second last and she looked in complete control but the 7/4f had to hold on in the closing stages as Catskill and Qasbah threw down late challenges.

'We'll give her a break now and probably bring her back for Listowel,' revealed trainer Paul Gilligan afterwards.

The testing conditions proved tough for the juveniles in the first two races and outsiders prevailed in both contests.

20/1 Mystic Mayfly struck in the final furlong to take the opening maiden while Dearg (14/1) stormed away in the closing stages to run out a ready winner of the claimer.

The biggest priced winner of the night was Coscorrig (33/1), who ran out a convincing five-and-a-half length winner of the maiden hurdle.

The mare was giving jockey Charlie Greene his first success 'on the track' while it was also a first win under rules for trainer Andy Lynch, who is also travelling head lad to Noel Meade.

The trainer/jockey combination have enjoyed a successful partnership in point-to-points, registering eight winners.

Spaxdotcom (4/6f) justified his short price in the Martinstown Opportunity Maiden Hurdle when kicking clear after the second last for a 21-length victory.

There was a sting in the tail for winning jockey Sean Flanagan, however, as he received a two day ban for unnecessary use of the whip.
