The Minack may have run his last race after picking up an injury when falling at Ascot on Saturday.

Paul Nicholls' eight-year-old had won both his races this season and had flown up the handicap as a result.

He was still in with a chance in the race won by Massini's Maguire yesterday when he fell seven fences from home and Nicholls said on his Twitter account that his career now hangs in the balance.

"Not a great day!! Topped by The Minack suffering serious career threatening injury," said Nicholls.

Late on Saturday evening The Minack was scratched from the Cheltenham Gold Cup.
