Minella Crooner put the seal on a treble for Gordon Elliott after powering home in the bumper.

The race boiled down to a match between the 2/9 favourite and the persistent Mister Beeton (10/1) in the final three furlongs.

Minella Crooner got the better of his plucky challenger approaching the final furlong and kept on well at the business end to score by six and a half lengths.

Jockey Jamie Codd said: “It was an ideal opportunity with the small field and him carrying a penalty.

“It's a bonus to get another bumper with him and the owner David (Barnard) is over so that's fantastic.

“I'd imagine he'll kick on over hurdles now, he's five rising six, and he's got that under his belt now.

“I'd imagine he'll probably step up in trip over hurdles and Gordon will find something for him in another few weeks.”
