Miss Mitch's Thyestes prospects

A weight of at least 11st 6lb for Miss Mitch in this month's Thyestes Chase is causing concern to trainer Sally Alner.

Miss Mitch is one of the entries for Gowran's big race on January 21 after a fine second on her only run this season, behind Our Vic in a conditions event at Warwick.

"We're not quite sure at the moment, we are going to have to talk to the owners first," said Alner.

"We'd be keen enough to go and she's in good form, but she is going to have plenty of weight. Otherwise she will run in a race at Ascot this month instead."

Not likely to be seen for the next few weeks is Master Medic, who was pulled-up in the King George after a promising start to the season.

Alner added: "My daughter rides him out, and she is going to be having a baby in the next couple of weeks, so it made sense to give him a bit of a break. I'd say we'll bring him back at the start of February and look to run in the spring as he doesn't like soft ground anyway."
