Missunited could be set for a winter break after running another fantastic race in defeat at the Curragh on Sunday, with trainer Mick Winters looking forward to a possible clash with Quevega at Cheltenham in March.

The six-year-old clinched a memorable victory in the Galway Hurdle in early August and reverted to the Flat to beat Eye Of The Storm in a Listed Flat race at the same venue.

She had to make do with the runner-up spot behind the same opponent in Sunday's Loughbrown Stakes and although a trip to France is under consideration, Winters is leaning towards letting his star mare have a break.

Winters would love to see Missunited lining up in the OLBG Mares' Hurdle at Cheltenham, a race Quevega has won a remarkable five times in a row.

He said: "She's a super mare and she's come out of the race surprisingly well.

"The winner won fair and square, but I don't think it helped us that we got isolated so much. I think she got a bit lonesome over on the far side.

"She's come out of the race in one piece which is the main thing.

"The owners are thinking about a race in France over a mile and seven (furlongs) in a month's time, but we'll see.

"We were thinking before Sunday that would be her last run of the year and maybe we'd be better leaving her off now.

"She'll race on again next year and if all goes well and she comes back well after a break, I'd like to run her in the mares' hurdle in Cheltenham.

"She thrives on her action so she'd probably have a run somewhere first, then go to Cheltenham and then go back on the Flat after that."
