Missunited and Barry Geraghty just got the better of Twigline and Ruby Walsh in a thrilling finish to the Group 3 Kerry Group EBF Mares Novice Hurdle.

Missunited, trained by Mick Winters, lead entering the straight with Twigline just behind her in second.

They jumped the last virtually together and had a tremendous battle on the run-in with Missunited bravely pulling out more close home to prevail by half a length.

The pair went thirteen lengths clear of Bobbina who finished third at 11/1 under Declan Lavery for trainer Brian Hamilton.

The winning 6yo daughter of Golan was returned at 11/8 while the runner-up went off the even money favourite for trainer Willie Mullins.

The now eight time winner was recording her biggest success to date and her trainer Mick Winters said afterwards: "It was a ding dong battle between two top men and there was no quarter given.

"She jumped fantastic during the week and again today. I was more confident early in the week but the ground was terrible today and she will be better on better ground.

"She will be entered in the Grade 1 at Fairyhouse and then Punchestown as well.

"John Thomas (McNamara) is the first thing we should all mention and he is an idol for everyone in point-to-points. He will get help from all quarters in racing and point-to-point’s."
