Missunited trounces the field in the bumper

Missunited at 12/1 followed up on her good debut effort at Limerick (where she finished just two and a half lengths second to Pharney Lady) to take the last on the card at Listowel this afternoon, the Bank Of Ireland Flat Race, for her trainer Michael Winters with Niall Kelly aboard.

The 4yo daughter of Golan was just one of two fillies in the race and was carrying bottom weight of 10-9, due to her mares allowance of five pounds and her jockey's claim of seven pounds.

Towards rear in the early part of the race she made headway from six furlongs out. She was third behind Deep Determination and Stormy Oscar approaching the straight but eased passed them under two furlongs out and kept on strongly to score easily by thirteen lengths.

Deep Determination at 7/2 got the better of 3/1 joint favourite Stormy Oscar in the battle for second by a head while the other joint favourite Koko Lane finished a disappointing seventh.

Winning trainer Michael Winters said afterwards: "She is a nice one. If it was a Mares bumper we would have fancied her like mad!

"She ran well at Limerick where the winner probably wanted the good ground but we wanted it soft. She thrives on soft ground but it was bit dead today.

"She is flat bred but I would love to go hurdling with her. She will go for a winners of one, mares bumper at Wexford next and the more rain the better.
