The 5/4 favourite Mister Twist landed the Adare Manor Opportunity Maiden Hurdle in the hands of Niall Moore.

Not out of the first four in his previous five outings, the Yeats gelding went on with Glendars Mahler after the third-last and mastered that rival on the run-in. He stayed on well to score by three and a quarter lengths from Dylan's Day who came through to shade second place by a head from Glendars Mahler.

Trainer Philip Fenton, who trains the winner for Roscommon native Bernie Mannion, said: "He ended up winning a maiden!

"Declan Queally's horse (Alvarez Eclipse) was very well fancied and he dropped away (unseated rider at start) and of course Lizzie Doyle's horse was a non runner (High City Roller) which made things easier for him.

"A handicap is his next port of call. Three miles is his job. He is in again on Wednesday (at Wexford), but we shall see. We'll make up our minds tomorrow.

"I'd say the cut in the ground would be a help."
