Misty for Thurles in January John Cullen was delighted with the effort of Misty Lady on her chasing debut at Cork on Sunday when she chased home smart prospect Listen Dear in Grade Three company. The seven-year-old has proven a star for the Thurles handler, winning five times over hurdles, and Cullen was pleased with the way she took to the larger obstacles. Despite making her first start over fences, Misty Lady attracted some support in the two-mile one-furlong contest with her price contracting from 33-1 in the morning into 12-1 on course. She snatched second close home behind easy winner Listen Dear. "There's nothing really for her over Christmas and we may look at a mares' chase in Thurles on January 19," said Cullen. "I was delighted with the way she ran and the way she jumped. She's not over-big and I wasn't sure she'd take to the fences as well as she did, as she's so good over hurdles. "She gets to carry a lighter weight in one of those races, but if she runs in even a mares' beginners' she'd have to carry over 11st. "She's been a good servant and I'd be lost without her."
