Mo Chroi finishes strongly to open account Mo Chroi confirmed the promise on his debut third at Dundalk when getting off the mark in the Fairyhouse For BBQ’s Maiden. The son of Galiway put in some good work at the finish when third behind Purview on the Polytrack and again proved strong here in the closing stages. The lead changed hands many times in the straight with Local Lad travelling well before leading over a furlong out but the 11/4 favourite was subsequently headed by Iron Fist. However, Gary Carroll got a great tune out of Mo Chroi as the 9/2 shot got on top inside the final 100 yards to score by half a length. Local Lad could find no extra a further three lengths away in third. Winning trainer Gavin Cromwell said, “He was brave enough as he had to switch out wide and came home strong. I’d say he’ll get plenty further. “He’d a lovely run in Dundalk and the form has worked out.”
