Momentous Ladies Derby in prospect for some

No less than six trainer/daughter combinations will take part in the Thlago Ladies Derby Handicap at the Curragh this afternoon, with sixteen year old, Sarah O'Brien, daughter of Ballydoyle maestro Aidan, having her first ride on the racecourse aboard her father's Nantucket Bay.

Better know on the eventing scene, after winning a bronze medal at Bishop Burton last year, O'Brien is the second member of her family to ride on the racecourse, with her brother Joseph a well established rider.

Twenty-three year old Sarah Lynam, will also be having her first ride aboard Denny Crane for her father Eddie.

Fifth in '09 and eighth last year, eighteen year old Carolyn Harty will be hoping its third time lucky for her aboard Baron D'el, for her father Eddie.

Three other trainer/parent, rider/daughter combinations will also take part with Kate Harrington riding Steps to Freedom for her mother Jessica, Kate Harrison riding Career Move for her mother Cathy and Katie McGivern riding Jigalo for her mother Joanna Morgan.
