Money bubbling about for Bruce at Sandown

In a stable tour in November 2010, his former trainer Charlie Mann said of Bubbly Bruce: "The most expensive horse I've ever been sent. An exciting prospect who ran in the Cheltenham and Punchestown bumpers and could be anything. He's laid back, likes the hurdles at home and will want cut in the ground."

Well Bubbly Bruce is now with Fergal O'Brien and he has halved in price from 14s into 7s in a place for the 4.10 at Sandown, the David Lindon & Co Handicap Hurdle.

Bubbly Bruce caught the eye at Exeter back in November and perhaps soft ground may have had something to do with his flop last time out at Uttoxeter.

The excellent Noel Fehily again rides the handicap debutant today and of course his only win to date came in a Thurles bumper two years ago for Billy Harney.

Harney said after that: "I hate to run them in too many bumpers but we might get greedy, we'll see. This fellow would jump out of jail."

Kyle Brady of Sky Bet said of Bubbly Bruce this morning: "Highly thought of when contesting bumpers, and was only beaten 10 lengths at Punchestown, after finishing mid division in the Champion Bumper at Cheltenham. Things didn't go to plan over hurdles when with Charlie Mann, but he has shown promise under new trainer Fergal O'Brien. The 8 year old is of definite interest on his handicap debut off a mark of 109." (EM)
