Money comes for Camelot

Camelot is 6/4 from 9/4 with Sky Bet to enhance his credentials as Ballydoyle's top middle distance colt for next year with victory in the Racing Post Trophy at Doncaster on Saturday.

Aidan O'Brien's son of Montjeu made an impressive winning debut in a Leopardstown maiden on his sole start back in July and was then put away for the Town Moor juvenile showpiece.

One of three 16/1 co-favourites currently heading the market for next year's Derby, Sky Bet reported 'informed' support on Tuesday ahead of his first foray into Group 1 company at Town Moor.

Matt Doyle of Sky Bet said: 'Camelot has a similar profile to one of the stable's five previous winners High Chaparral as a maiden winner fast-tracked to the highest level and the informed support we've seen says he can emulate his illustrious former stablemate.'

O'Brien, whose three other entries include Royal Lodge winner Daddy Long Legs, has used the Racing Post Trophy as a launchpad for subsequent Classic winners High Chaparral - his last Derby winner nine years ago - and 2003 St Leger hero Brian Boru.

Although their last winner of the 2009 renewal St Nicholas Abbey failed to live up to his 'wonder horse' status at three, the Group 1's roll of honour for Epsom since 2001 also includes Authorized and Motivator.
