Monksland heads north Noel Meade's Monksland is set to make his seasonal reappearance in the WKD Hurdle at Down Royal on Friday. The point-to-point graduate was a hugely impressive winner of a Down Royal bumper last November and he kept his unbeaten record intact on his first couple of starts over timber. He finished off his novice campaign with a distant third in the Neptune Novices' Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival and his trainer hopes to learn more about which direction his charge should take by running him this week. He said: "Monksland will probably go for the WKD Hurdle in Down Royal. We were going to straight over fences with him, but we've decided to run him in Down Royal and then we'll see which way we'll go." Monksland is one of 10 entries in the Grade Two along with Dot Love's Shadow Eile and Miley Shah.
