Montys Meadow had a comprehensive five lengths victory in Cork’s bumper for Jimmy and Jane Mangan.

The five-year-old made a pleasing return from an absence of more than a year and a half off track when fourth in a Clonmel bumper last month (His outings in 2012 were in point-to-points).

He duly improved for that outing here when racing prominently and assuming the lead with three furlongs to go. The 6/1 shot stayed on well to close the door on Clounts Meadows (16/1) on debut for John Joe Walsh. Kieran Purcell’s Garri Rua got third-placed money after being headed for the lead at halfway.

Trainer Jimmy Mangan said: “I bred him myself. He’s related to Monty’s Pass. We’ll see how he comes out of this. Maybe a winners’ bumper at Christmas will be next.

“He’s a bit backward but is coming on in leaps and bounds.”

Adrian Maguire’s Mm Dazzler went off the 10/3 favourite but could make no impression in fifth.
