Moon Mission opened his account at the 11th attempt in the Sean Murphy Plant Hire Ltd. Rated Novice Hurdle at Cork.

The Philip Rothwell-trained gelding had shown promise when placed both in bumpers and over hurdles and appreciated this drop in class after finishing in mid-division last time in a valuable handicap at the Punchestown Festival.

The 12/1 shot headed the front-running Big Dispute at the penultimate flight and was driven out on the run-in by Tiernan Power Roche to beat Le Roi Du Livet by a length and a half.

Big Dispute kept on one paced a further length and a quarter back in third.

Power Roche said, “He is still learning and while we were a little disappointed at Punchestown the last day, the more you look back at that race he actually ran ok.

“To go to Punchestown and being thrown into a big field against experienced horses, he ran alright for the way he was ridden.

"He came out of it well and while I was worried about the ground, the course have done a great job watering it.

"I rode him with different tactics today and I had to give him a shuffle at the back of the fourth last, but he picked up the bridle. He idled over the last two, but it was a nice performance."
