Moore expects Giovanni to show more Ryan Moore is bidding for his third Classic of the season when Giovanni Canaletto lines up in the Investec Derby at Epsom. Narrowly out of luck on his 1000 Guineas winner Legatissimo in the Oaks on Friday, Moore has completed a 2000 Guineas double on Gleneagles already this season and was a fraction away from going for the clean sweep. Widely regarded as the best jockey riding, he has cemented his association with Aidan O'Brien and the Coolmore operation in fine style. However, in a year without a clear-cut Derby contender, there was plenty of speculation as to what he might ride in the great race until a welter of money saw Giovanni Canaletto halve in price earlier this week, and confirmation swiftly followed. Having looked promising when winning his maiden late last season, he missed an intended run at Chester only to be beaten on his reappearance by the filly Curvy in the Gallinule Stakes. "I was disappointed he got beat, but I felt he ought to have won. It was a slowly run race, I was out the back and I didn't want to give him too hard a time," Moore said. "The favourite (Golden Horn) is very good, but this lad's open to considerable improvement and I feel if he comes forward from that run, which I'm pretty sure he will do, I'm sure he'll run well." O'Brien, who has won the Derby for the last three years and five times in total, also saddles Chester Vase winner Hans Holbein and Kilimanjaro, who tidily claimed the Lingfield trial in May. The Ballydoyle handler said: "Hans Holbein is a horse that looks like he gets a mile and a half well. He wouldn't mind any ease in the ground. He will probably end up getting further than a mile and a half. "Kilimanjaro won his maiden in Dundalk early on, then went to Lingfield. He won nicely and got the mile and a half well. He's a big cruiser and came home very well that day. It's setting up nicely for him as well."
