Moran lands Canadian Oaks Davy Moran won the Canadian Oaks at Woodbine yesterday on the former Jim Bolger trained filly Roan Inish. Moran came with a well-timed run to get the filly's head in front just where it mattered in a thrilling finish to the $484,814 contest. Roan Inish is trained by Carolyn Costigan for her father Robert and she only took out her licence last October. This is the first time a lady has trained the winner of the Canadian Classic. Carolyn Costigan spent some time in Ireland learning her trade from Jim Bolger and said: "I've met the right people. I've learned from the right people. I'm very lucky the people whom I've met have taken an interest in teaching me, from Jim Bolger to Sheikh Mohammed's program. I'm very thankful." Davy Moran said of Roan Inish: "she is very tough and as genuine as you can get. The further she goes the better."
