The eight-year-old won his first two starts last term but then fell slightly short at Grade One level, finishing second in the Ryanair Chase at Cheltenham and the Melling at Aintree as well as claiming third in the John Durkan Chase. The trainer said: "Sub Lieutenant is in mighty form. He's always mad when he first comes back in. We might start in Punchestown over three miles in October, and look at the JNWine. "We'd love to see him up in trip and see how he gets on. I'm not saying he'll definitely stay, but he ran on so well in the Ryanair that it will be interesting to see him over a trip."
