More Fixtures Threatened By Weather

As a band of heavy rain sweeps across Ireland on Friday a number of fixtures will do well to survive over the coming days.

The Kilbeggan meeting planned for this evening was abandoned at 1.30pm.

Leopardstown's big card on Saturday featuring the Tattersalls Millions Irish Champion Stakes was certain to go ahead, but will now have to pass a precautionary inspection at 7am on Saturday. The ground is currently soft following 45mm of rain.

Dundalk's all-weather fixture on Sunday will be not be troubled, but Galway's three-day September festival set to begin on Monday may be a different story.

The going at Galway is currently soft (heavy in places) on the flat and hurdle tracks and heavy on the chase course.
