More expected from Brendan Brackan

Ger Lyons expects Brendan Brackan to "pay his way" at a good level this season after a mixed spell in Dubai.

Having burst on to the scene last season when winning the valuable Topaz Mile at Galway by over eight lengths, he subsequently claimed a Group Three at the Curragh in September.

Narrowly beaten in a Group Two on his first start at Meydan, he was out of luck in two further outings in the emirate.

"He came back fit off the plane but it just didn't work out for him out there," said the County Meath handler.

"I don't think being trained on the Tapeta suited him and he was drawn badly. A few other things didn't go his way, either.

"I think I've got him back thriving again and he's not that far off a run.

"We put him in all the early-closing races and something like the Ballycorus Stakes (Leopardstown, June 12) might be a nice target.

"Somewhere along the way we might have a cut at a Group Two, but he's a solid Group Three-Listed horse who will pay his way.

"I'd love a stable full of horses like him."
