More from Postponed at his 'perfect trip' Adam Kirby expects Postponed to be seen to even greater effect when stepped back up to a mile and a half. In his two runs to date this season, the Luca Cumani-trained four-year old has raced with great credit over trips arguably short of his best. Last year's Great Voltigeur winner was most recently seen finishing third behind Al Kazeem over an extended mile and a quarter in the Tattersalls Gold Cup at the Curragh, having earlier taking second behind Western Hymn in the Gordon Richards Stakes at Sandown. All being well, the Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum-owned colt will be stepped back up to a mile and a half for a crack at the Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot on June 20. Kirby said: "Postponed has been in great form going into both races and last time he got beat by Al Kazeem, who is a very good horse. "It was just unfortunate that day he had do a lot of the donkey work out in front. "I think a mile and a half is his perfect trip and I am looking forward to riding him at Ascot in the Hardwicke Stakes, as I think he will be different class at that distance." Although failing to win on Postponed so far this season, Kirby feels his new retainer with owner Sheikh Obaid has gone well and believes there is plenty more to come. Kirby said: "I am chuffed to bits with how the retainer is going. "The horses are going well and we have some nice ones I am looking forward to riding, including White Lake, who is still a very good horse. "The season has only just started and by the end of the season all the good horses I am sure will have proven themselves."
