Morris wants rain for Gowran pair Mouse Morris could let star chasers China Rock and First Lieutenant take their chance in Saturday's PWC Champion Chase at Gowran Park. The application of a tongue-tie appeared to make a big difference to China Rock when he signed off last season with victory in the Punchestown Gold Cup. First Lieutenant was among the leading novice chasers last season, placed three times at Grade One level, including when second in the RSA Chase at the Cheltenham Festival. This weekend's Grade Two prize promises to be an exciting contest, with multiple Grade One winner Sizing Europe also set to line up, but the Morris-trained pair will only take him on if there is rain in County Kilkenny. Morris said: "We'd want rain for them to run as the ground is quite firm in Gowran at the moment. "It doesn't look like they'll get much (rain) and if they don't they won't run. "If the ground did come up right, they might both take their chance as they'll probably have to meet at some stage and they are ready to rock and roll."
