Hughie Morrison is hoping rain falls at the Curragh to allow him to send Shirocco Star across the Irish Sea for the Lanwades Stud Blandford Stakes at the Curragh on Saturday.

With no alternative engagement in the near future for last year's Investec Oaks runner-up, Morrison is keen to run as long as she has her favoured cut in the ground.

She has run creditably in two previous trips to the Curragh, finishing second in the 2012 Darley Irish Oaks and running a close third to Ambivalent in the Pretty Polly Stakes at the end of June.

"We're keeping an eye on the weather there. If it looks like it's going to rain enough we'll go there," said the East Ilsley trainer.

"The problem is there is no alternative race for her. If there was a logical alternative I'd go there, but there isn't.

"She doesn't know how to run a bad race. She ran very well at the Curragh behind Ambivalent and the ground was too quick for her."
