Morse stars in Curragh opener

Samuel Morse looked a name to follow when making an impressive debut in the opening two-year-old maiden at the Curragh.

Seamus Heffernan's mount, the outsider of two Aidan O'Brien runners, quickened up in good style inside the final furlong.

The Danehill Dancer colt was held up and showed a fine turn of foot when bursting through up the rail - going on to beat Brookley Lady by a length-and-a-half.

It was Heffernan's first winner of the season and Ballydoyle's first two-year-old scorer.

"He's a fine big horse. He's never been on grass before and both the horses ran lovely races," said O'Brien.

"Seamus got a lovely split up the rail. Every week mine are coming on a bit. This horse wouldn't mind six furlongs but he's not short of speed."
