Joseph O'Brien recorded the first treble of his career, at Navan today, to move right into contention in the race for the apprentice title. Table Mountain held the late charge of Eurhythmic by a length to also give his father Aidan a four-timer on the day when taking the concluding maiden.
O'Brien junior had sent his mount to the front two furlongs from home and the 5/4 favourite galloped on strongly.
Eurhythmic finished to good effect but couldn't peg back the winner, going down by a length at the line.
"He's a bit babyish mentally and is still a bit green but he's a nice horse," said the winning jockey of his partner afterwards.
O'Brien's treble moved him on to 30 for the year just three behind current leader Gary Carroll. Ben Curtis is the other involved in the three-way battle, one behind on 32.
The father and son partnership had also combined earlier as Eirnin overcame trouble in running to pip stablemate Diamond Brooch in the fillies maiden.
Joseph had also teamed up with Tom Mullins as Fosters Cross caused a 25/1 shock in the two-mile maiden.
Johnny Murtagh, who emerged the wrong side of the photo aboard Diamond Brooch had gained compensation aboard Don Carlos in the Newgrange Race.
The fourth of the Ballydoyle winners was the most impressive, Exodus who ran away with the colts maiden in great style under Seamus Heffernan.
