Mozart destroys July Cup field

Mozart blew away the opposition in today`s Darley July Cup at Newmarket with a scorching display of speed.

Aidan O`Brien`s Danehill colt led from the start and showed a devastating turn-of-foot two furlongs out to leave his rivals struggling as he went on for a two-and-a-half length victory.

Cassandra Go (7-1) chased home the winner while Misraah (14-1) stayed on late to claim third spot, a length further back.

'He`s a serious horse. Very difficult to beat. You have to follow him - if you don`t follow him you won`t catch him.' said O`Brien afterwards.

'He`s pure speed. A very straight-forward horse, you just pop out and let him go.

'Mick (Kinane) said he was very happy in himself today and when he picked him up at the two (furlong marker) he just quickened away.

'We don`t have a horse at home that can work with him. He is very fast.'

The Nunthorpe Stakes over five furlongs could be on the agenda for the son of Danehill.

'Stepping back in trip would be no problem. He would love it. We would be able to let him go earlier.'
