Ciaran Murphy is hoping to make the most of the current testing ground conditions with Moudan who missed out on an intended engagement after yesterday’s meeting at Clonmel was cancelled due to waterlogging.

The Mount Nelson gelding won twice over hurdles early last year on heavy ground and again showed his liking for the mud when successful over fences at the Limerick Christmas meeting.

The seven-year-old filled the runner-up spot behind Hesgonethatway at Naas last Saturday and Murphy commented: “He would have had a chance in Clonmel, it is his ground and everything.

“We bumped into one in Naas which we couldn't believe.

“He's going to run away when the ground is heavy; he seems to like it.

“There's a hurdle race in Naas coming up for him (the William Hill Each Way Extra Handicap Hurdle on Sunday February 22). He'll go somewhere in the next week or ten days for sure.”
