Mullins and Doyle have sights on bagging another Cesarewitch It could be a case of history repeated at Newmarket in the Club Godolphin Cesarewitch Handicap when Emmet Mullins and James Doyle link up once again with improving stayer Cock And Bull. The trainer-jockey combination proved successful when stalwart The Shunter landed the prestigious handicap in 2023, and Mullins has called up the Wathnan number one once again to take the ride on his Galway winner who has had this race earmarked since his promising performances in the summer. Mullins said: “He stuck at his task well in Galway and we shouldn’t have any trip concerns, which is a big help in the race. Hopefully we can repeat the magic with James Doyle again. “I think the extended two miles will definitely help him and it’s been the plan since Galway to be honest.” Doyle Partnership Rekindled for Cesarewitch Challenge Cock And Bull is one of two in the race for Mullins – who will swap Bagenalstown for Jim Bolger’s historic Coolcullen yard next year – alongside Dream On Baby, who is no stranger to success in the UK, albeit over hurdles. A Listed winner at Kempton last November, she also finished second in a Doncaster Grade Two last winter, but has now proved just as adept on the level, romping to a wide-margin win at Tramore in August. Mullins added of Gavin Ryan’s mount: “She’s unexposed on the Flat and this will be her first run in a handicap, but I suppose the benefit of all those hurdles runs is she won’t exactly lack for experience. “She’s tough and hardy and has some good form and has been crying out for a step up in trip as well. The trip won’t be a concern and I think she’s nicely weighted to go well. “It’s a great prize and we’ve had luck at Newmarket before. It’s always a race that suits our horses well.”
