Champion National Hunt trainer Willie Mullins landed another decent pot on the Flat as Thread Of Gold flashed home late to land the Double First Stables Irish EBF Nasrullah Handicap at Leopardstown.

Sent off 7/1, the Team Valor International LLC owned gelding was dropped out towards rear by jockey Wayne Lordan in the early stages of the nine-furlong contest.

Switched wide early in the straight, the son of Ghaiyyath came with a strong late run down the outside of the field to score by one-and-a-quarter lengths.

Wayne Lordan said: "It went smooth. He's quite a nice horse. I just let him find his feet early. He's a big striding horse and, he changed his legs a bit. When you leave him find his feet, he gets into it and, he comes home well.

"He rides a little bit babyish so I think there's plenty of improvement. He's a horse I feel will get up to a mile-and-a-half. He goes well and, he won nice.

"It's all a stepping stone. Whenever he is ready, he'll make the steps himself. He looks like a horse that's progressing."
